Dwarven Way

The Dwarven Way is a vast subterranean route carved deep through the earth’s crust and the shallower reaches of the Underdark. It connects all known realms of the Dwarven Kingdoms, forming the backbone of dwarven travel, trade, and military movement beneath the world.

The Way is not a peaceful passage and should never be treated as such. Only those properly prepared survive the journey. The remains of travelers who underestimated its dangers litter its tunnels, serving as grim warnings to those who follow.

Known Non‑Dwarven Entrances

While tightly guarded by dwarven authorities, several non‑dwarven access points to the Way are known or rumored to exist:

  • The Forest of Silvestara contains a cave opening that leads into a passage connecting directly to the Dwarven Way.
  • The Great Rend created a massive cavern that once exposed the Way to the surface before it was flooded by the formation of Lake Overlook. Rumors persist that hidden routes into the Way still exist in the region, though none have been fully mapped due to severe geological instability.
  • Nestor maintains a sealed entrance to the Way within its Dwarven Embassy. This access point remains locked at all times, by mutual agreement between the Nestorian and Dwarven governments.
