Delagore

Delagore is a small city-state situated on the western coast. It is considered to lie within the “wild lands,” surrounded by dangerous terrain and hostile creatures throughout much of the region. Delagore is a vassal of Nestor and was originally settled by a group of Nestorian nobles with the explicit aim of expanding Nestor’s influence westward - a goal that was ultimately achieved.

Founding

Delagore was founded in LR 943, primarily through the efforts of the Bellache family of Nestor. The settlement struggled to achieve self-sufficiency in its early decades, relying heavily on regular supply shipments from Nestor. This dependence continued until LR 982, when Delagore became capable of self-governance while remaining under the indirect authority of Nestor.

Expansion

Delagore’s territorial holdings expanded dramatically to the east and south, regions that had seen little to no development since the fall of the First Empire. Northern expansion was more limited, extending primarily to match the eastern growth and to secure the peninsula on which the city itself is located.

At present, Delagore’s claimed territory extends nearly five days’ travel east and south from the city, and approximately three days’ travel to the north, reaching the northern edge of the peninsula.

Zone of Control

Delagore controls an unusually large swath of land for a city-state of its size. With the backing of Nestor, there is little concern about defending these claims against neighboring nations. However, the area in which the population can be considered truly safe and secure is much smaller. In some directions -particularly to the south & west- regions as close as one to two days’ travel from the city remain dangerous and unstable.

Diplomatic Relations

Delagore maintains generally positive relations with nearby regions, particularly with local dwarven tribes and settlements. Relations with the elves are more strained, stemming from past disputes over logging and land clearing. In practice, however, Delagore possesses little that the elven realms actively desire.

Relations to the south have worsened in recent years, as Nestor has been increasingly labeled a warmongering power by many neighboring nations.
